Shalom 3rd Grade Parents,
I would like to give you a brief overview of what we accomplished in class so far. The Hebrew book that we are using is called “Shalom U’Vracha” ( Peace and Blessing ). This book is a Hebrew reading readiness program. The students are learning to read words by combining letters and vowels. We are already at lesson 12 in this book. The class consists of oral reading practice, written exercise and talking about the new Hebrew word for the lesson. If time allows we play games to reinforce reading skills. Your children are doing a great job reading Hebrew words. Please encourage them to continue to practice their weekly reading homework.
Shalom 4th grade parents,
I would like to update you on what we achieved in class this semester. The Hebrew book we are using is called “Shalom Ivrit. “ It contains short stories of modern Hebrew and Jewish Holidays which enable the students to increase their Hebrew vocabulary and to learn how important it is to celebrate the holidays and to continue living the Jewish life. The class consists of reading and translating the stories. We just finished chapter 7 ” Hanukkah.” The students also practiced the Hannukah blessings. Hebrew games and short Hebrew conversation is used in the classroom to reinforce the new vocabulary words that we are learning each session. The students will be given one page of Hebrew homework to practice reading at home.

Thank you for the update, Mrs. Sokolow!
