“The Jam Space” is an open jam session for teenagers looking to play and share music.  We will be exploring all types of music styles and ways to incorporate any and all instruments into coming together to play.  From beginners to a more advanced player, all abilities are welcome and will be able to contribute to the session.  It will be important to bring your instrument of choice and your ipod.  There’s no pressure when it comes to playing.  When you are ready or want to contribute you can join in.  Chris will be able to assist in ideas that will enable you to join right in.  Come with an open mind, ready to “Jam”! The Jam Space will be facilitated by Chris Kersker who is currently the proprietor of the Accel School of Music in Peabody and is a performing musician with the groups Mile 21, and Hope Road. We mourn the passing of Sonia Schreiber Weitz

Today, Temple Ner Tamid notified us of this sad news… Temple Ner Tamid mourns the passing of its beloved member, Sonia Schreiber Weitz. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday, June 27, at Temple Ner Tamid, 368 Lowell Street, Peabody. Interment will follow at the Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon. When the family returns following the burial, their memorial observance will be private. Visitors are welcome on Monday and Tuesday, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Sonia’s late residence, 7-24 Ledgewood Way, Peabody. Sonia was a Holocaust survivor, a poet, an educator and a human rights activist. Born in Krakow, Poland, she and her late sister, Blanca, survived the Krakow Ghetto and five Nazi camps, including Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen.  Sonia was the co-founder and Education Director of The Holocaust Center Boston North. Through her everyday actions, her written and spoken word, she encouraged and inspired her audiences. Sonia hoped for a world “where there are no more victims nor victimizers and, above all, no more bystanders.” Sonia, who began writing poetry at age twelve, remained undaunted by a Nazi edict banning Jews from owning pencils or paper. Happier is…WEEK NINE Balak Enjoying the Journey In every life some mundane work is to be expected. Sometimes we need to give up instant gratification for future gains. Being happier is finding balance between the two. Professor Tal Ben-Shahar descrbes four personality types: RAT RACER This person constantly chases some future goal, living life as if it were a race, unable to enjoy the day-to-day. HEDONIST This person seeks immediate pleasure while ignoring the consequences of their behavior. NIHILIST This person feels defeated by life, helpless. HAPPY This person finds joy in what they do.
