Children Services at TBA this Saturday, May 4

PJ Library Shabbat Circle from 10:00-10:45 a.m. The creative and interactive Shabbat service is geared to children ages six and younger and is a wonderful way for young families to experience Shabbat through stories, prayer, song, Torah, and creative movement in a casual and relaxed atmosphere. Snacks will be served at the conclusion of the service. Older siblings are welcome to attend. PJ Library Shabbat Circle is free and sponsored by the Robert I. Lappin Charitable Foundation, Temple B’nai Abraham and made possible with a generous allocation from the Jewish Federation of the North Shore. Jr. Congregation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. This a special service designed to engage our TBA students and help prepare them for participating as adults after their bar/bat mitzvah. Service leader Eliana Light uses her background in music, theater, and Jewish education to bring these services to life. Jr. Congregation is held monthly and required for all TBA students in grades 3-7 though younger students are welcome and parents are also encouraged to attend. Guest service leaders for Jr. Congregation are generously sponsored by the Sam and Eve Weinberg Memorial fund.

Religious School Reminders

Please note that Religious School classes will not be held during the public school vacation week, April 14 through 21. Students and families are encouraged to participate regularly in TBA’s Shabbat services, as service attendance reinforces classroom lessons about prayer, Hebrew language, and Jewish community. Several family-friendly services are on the TBA calendar, including a Shabbat dinner and service on Friday, April 26, and youth services on Saturday, May 3. The Religious School’s graduation and move-up service is scheduled for Friday, May 10. Please watch for details to be announced.

Building Blocks Workshops: Building Jerusalem, The Jewish History Construction Series

Sunday April 7, 2013 – Sunday April 7, 2013 200 East Lothrop Street Map and Directions | Register Description: Building Blocks Workshops conducts programs using LEGO® building blocks to teach specific subjects in Jewish History for children and their parents. The program is a 2-hour, hands on, model building experience using over 50,000 LEGO® building blocks. The programs cover a wide range of subjects on April 7 we will build Jerusalem. Each program has a detailed drawing of at least 400 square feet upon which the participants build the actual model. The number of participants can vary from 60 to 125. Jewish Storytelling — Community Learning Day, 3/17/13

Join us on Sunday, March 17, for a day full of storytelling. Our first featured guest is Jordan Hill, a wandering maggid for whom high-energy storytelling and engaged spirituality is inextricably bound to his extensive teaching in just about every type of Jewish educational venue. Charles Hirshberg, our second guest, is a writer, journalist, and husband to Rabbi Adler. He’ll lead a discussion about war stories. Beyond that, there will be Passover excitement for the little ones, some Kung Fu for youth, Passover cooking for adults, and visit from Sababa, a North Shore Klezmer band. Come for a morning of mind-blowing entertainment! About TBA’s Community Learning Day The Community Learning Days are designed to bring all generations of our congregation and the greater North Shore Jewish Community together to enjoy educational programming. Hello TBS/TBA Teens!(grades 8 and up) Are you ready for some winter-themed, rip roaring fun right here in Peabody?! Temple Beth Shalom and Temple B’nai Abraham Teens are going ice skating at the James McVann-Louis O’Keefe Skating Rink, which is right down the street from Temple Beth Shalom. We will have a quick Havdalah and pizza at the temple to conclude Shabbat and then head over to the rink. Want to see Dan Swartz fall on his butt many times? Then come to the event because that is bound to happen! Learn about Sephardic history on the North Shore, listen to and sing Ladino songs, and visit the Sephardic Shouk, where you can beat to the rhythms of the drums, try some different foods, even get a henna tattoo.
