Social Action Committee Minutes, 4/22/12

- Happy earth day!

- The group discussed options for handling concerns over cuts in service to CATA. Louise will investigate and come back with specific information about what it is that the Social Action Committee can do.

- The vegetable garden will be constructed. The sixth grade class is doing this as a mitzvah project. On Community Learning Day, May 6, there will be a dedication. It will be incorporated into the 6th grade religious school class on Mitzvah.

Community Vegetable Garden Update
avatar

This past Sunday the TBA 6th grade students along with some parent volunteers and Ruth Helman completed phase 1 of our prep for the new garden. Volunteers worked from 12:30 until nearly 4:30 digging up the grass. The 6th grade has taken this vegetable garden on as a class mitzvah project. We are all looking forward to planting and dedicating our new garden this Sunday during Community Learning Day.

There is still plenty to do before Sunday to get the garden ready for planting. We especially need older students and adults to help turn the soil and lay the compost. Please call 978-927-3211 ext 14 or email Deb at deb.vozella@tbabeverly.org if you are interested helping in the garden.

Description:

Join us Monday night, April 30, at 7 pm, for the Women’s Rosh Hodesh Group meeting at the home of Donna Pierce.

For the month of Iyar we will look at the biblical story of the daughters of Zelephad who demanded of Moses that, in the absence of brothers, they inherit land in Israel. We will also reflect upon the theme of inheritance: What have we inherited from the women in our lives, and what do we hope to pass down to the next generation?
